Thomas G. Walker

Principal

Tom has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate finance. Prior to joining Capitalize, he spent 23 years at Housing Capital Company, a division of US Bank. Tom led the Housing Capital business expansion into Central California and the Atlantic, Central and Southern regions of the United States. Lending activities were concentrated in residential tract financing (including land, acquisition & development, vertical construction loans and secured borrowing base lines of credit). Additionally, Tom underwrote, originated and closed medium to large scale income properties including retail, office, multi-family, and mixed- use projects throughout the Western US.

Eventually, Tom left the “Big Box Bank” because Capitalize offered the opportunity to better advocate and serve clients. It was a natural fit to join Alan Rurik as his business partner because of their complementary skillsets. Plus, it’s fun to be in business with his childhood friend and pursue the entrepreneurial dream!

Time away from the office is happily spent with his family. He loves spending time skiing and boating with family as well as traveling around the country following his sons’ baseball careers through the Division I collegiate level. Tom holds a California Real Estate Brokers license and is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association. He Graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Economics and a Minor in Management.
